XSignTool is a complete solution for working with XML digital signatures in Altova's Authentic® editor. The plugin allows the XML editor who works with Authentic® to verify documents signed with a foreign signature to make sure that the content of the file is really the original content. Own documents can be signed with certificates belonging to the author which makes verification possible for the receiver. XSignTool adds an enveloped signature to the Altova Authentic® XML document. The whole document will be signed and a signature element will be added to the XML root node. The following hash algorithms are supported to sign XML documents:
Select certificateUse this command to select a certificate from the MY store of the system. This certificate will be used for all following sign and verify operations. The last certificate used is remembered and selected again the next time Authentic® and the XSignTool are loaded. Open and verifyTo verify a signed document press this button and select a file in the standard file dialog box. XSignTool loads the content of the file internally and verifies any signature. The result of the verification is presented in a message box: ![]() Pressing the "Yes" button opens the file as a document in Authenic®. Sign documentSigning a document creates a copy of the active document at the location of the original file. XSignTool appends "_signed" to the filename and creates the signature in the new document. Remove signatureIf a signature element is present in the current active document this command removes it from the XML. The command is only enabled if XSignTool finds a signature in the document. |
